Hello let me introduce ourselves. My name is Liza and my husband is Miguel, and we are the owners of the Secret Beach Villas.            

We got in to the Villa Rental Business quite by accident.  We had traveled to Playa del Carmen on a few occasions for vacations. One trip while doing some exploring we decided to check out a road we saw off the main highway. To make a long story short, we found Playa del Secreto, fell in love with it, we bought a villa and decided to rent out when we weren’t using it.

That was in January of 1997, we now own three villas that we rent out along with others that belong to our friends and neighbors. We moving from the cold of Michigan in 1999 to live full-time in the warmth of the tropics, it’s a delight to me, however Miguel will tell you he misses the “Snow”, hence we will be vacationing in Alaska this year.

    Miguel has seven years of management experience with Club Med - he speaks French, English, Spanish and Italian. Miguel is a Mexican native whom lived in the States for years, a professional chef, Restaurant Owner, but mostly he is a fisherman and a real people person (which sorry to say I am not.) He enjoys taking our renters fishing and then returning to their villa to prepare dinner with the fish they caught. He will also share with you a few fish stories and recipes.

I owned an Engineering Consulting company in Metro Detroit that specialized in the statically analysis of automotive Camshafts and Crankshafts. I traveled all over the world crunching numbers for the big 3 auto companies. After a 18 month stay in Chihuahua Mexico, I was hooked and in love with Mexico heart and soul. I'm stilled glued to a computer, but it's much better being a computer geek looking out at tropical gardens and swaying palm trees then a driveway full of snow any day. I take care of the computer stuff - e-mails, web pages, reservations and the accounting, along with the decorating of the villas. In addition to this I spend a lot of time on my Artistic Machine Embroidery which is sold in our shop in Puerto Morelos, all of of this keeps me very busy. So let me apology in advance if it takes me a day or two to get back to your email.

People wonder why they don't see much of me around the villas. It is because I have lupus and have to avoid the sun during especially the daytime direct sunlight.

   The Secret Beach Villas are Owner Managed villas – we live fill-time in an apartment on the property by the entrance gate, because we are onsite – we are aware of any “maintenance problems” and hopefully can get them corrected ASAP. We are also the Property Manger for Villa Karina. We have found that people whom rent villas are the “independent type” most have rented villas in the past and know the ropes, so we have a “hands off” approach – the villas are your home while you are here, we are highly respectful of your privacy and keep our distance, however when approached we are always available to answer your questions, and to give restaurant and sight seeing tips. Being "locals" we know of places to visit that are off-the beaten path. We will do our best to assure that your vacation is a memorable one.
